The Amazing American Circus Completes Successful Kickstarter
Deck building card game secures funding after a big top performance
WARSAW, POLAND — April 6th, 2021 - Single player deck building card game The Amazing American Circus has successfully completed its Kickstarter campaign. The highly-anticipated title, which explores 19th century American folklore and history, is aiming for a May 20th landing, accompanied by a graceful pirouette off the trapeze.
Story
In The Amazing American Circus, players take on the role of a youngster in his 20’s, unsure what to do with his life. He finds himself drinking in dens every night which leads him into consistently unfortunate circumstances. One day, the protagonist receives a letter from his mother informing him about the death of his father. While they were never close, it turns out his father has left him an old, run-down road circus. The youngster is not too happy about what his father left behind, but is informed about a prestigious contest organized by President Roosvelt and Queen Victoria of England where first place wins one million dollars. Now is the time for this youngster to turn his life around and build a legacy. Our protagonist packs his bags and sets for the road with his newfound circus. It’s time to become the biggest show in 19th century America!
The Circus
As the traveling circus owner, you need to continuously expand your act and find the best performers while competing with other circuses. While building the notoriety of your circus, you compete head-to-head against the greatest showman himself — P.T. Barnum. Inspired by Slay the Spire, this title also brings a distinct take on the deck builder genre. You must assemble the right deck to perform thrilling acts for your audiences. You’re tasked with gathering an exotic crew of performers, each with their own mysterious and bizarre stories. In addition to managing the roster of performers, you’re tasked with improving their stats, managing your circus’ resources, unlocking new wagons, skills, buffs, and items.
The World
What many historians consider the golden age, 19th century America is a developing country with settlers steadily pushing the American frontier. In The Amazing American Circus, you’ll explore iconic landmarks and meet historical characters such as John D. Rockefeller, Susan B. Anthony, and Nikola Tesla. The map is divided by four regions: Northeast, Northwest, Midwest, and South. Your route will be decided by the storyline choices you make. With more than 80 towns and cities to perform in, there are incredible avenues of exploration and direction. Each location has its own unique set of crowds and what they find entertaining so be sure to customize your act accordingly.
American Folklore
19th century America was full of mystery and supernatural encounters with all types of experiences. Along your journey, you’ll encounter:
- Voodoo and spiritual rituals that might bring a run-in with a zombie or two. In fact Marie Leveau - the most famous practitioner and spiritual leader - is one of the bosses in the game.
- Critters of the north. Along the giant forests in the north US, travelers claimed to have seen a hugag (a moose with joint-less legs), a jackalope, and a vermin sounding like a kettle. Who knows what critters you’ll encounter.
- Prehistoric creatures below the Great Lakes. Many are familiar with the Loch Ness monster, but what about Champ? The similar beast can be found in Lake Champlain.
The Amazing American Circus is a unique blend of a card game, tycoon, and an adventure game. Build a wandering circus, collect a strong deck of cards, gather a fantastic troupe of artists and performers, and travel across the 19th century United States.
